Every year the PTA holds several events and fundraisers in an effort to bring our teachers, parents and students together. We also use some of these events to raise money to purchase supplies and support fun and educational events, assemblies, and special projects for our students. In 2016 we used these funds to hire “Starlab” to provide a planetarium assembly to our students; we purchased a composter for the School Garden Club; and we contributed financially to the supplies used for the new school mural.
Our largest event every year is our Spring Carnival, which will be held on March 4, 2017. The School Carnival is a full afternoon of activities including carnival games, prizes, lunch and snack items, and ends with the calling of our raffle. The money raised at this event helps us to purchase supplies for our teachers, as well as pay for a special assembly every year for our students.
The event is not just open to the students and the families of RPS; it’s open to the entire community. We encourage all of our friends and neighbors to come check out the carnival this year. Stop by, have a hot dog, maybe buy some raffle tickets, or just enjoy watching the kids play our wide assortment of carnival games, everyone is welcome!
It takes upwards of 80 volunteers to run this event, so if you would like to volunteer for an hour or two to help run a carnival game, please reach out to our PTA President, Kathryn Cunningham at rpspta2016@gmail.com. Help and feedback from the entire community is always appreciated!
The second event we are planning this year is bringing back the town-wide yard sale on Saturday, April 29th. We will be setting up the main yard sale on the lawn of RPS, across from the Post Office and renting tables to those who are interested in selling their goods. We encourage any local artists, crafters or small business owners who would be interested in setting up a booth to please reach out to us as well. There is a sign up form included in this month’s Borough Bulletin for those that would like to participate. The tables are on a first come, first serve basis, so early registration is recommended!
The Roosevelt Public School PTA is always looking for new members, new ideas, and volunteer help. If you have a question, or would like to be a part of the PTA, please reach out to us at rpspta2016@gmail.com.
