Dear Friends and Neighbors,
As co-chairs of the Democratic Party in Roosevelt, Peggy Malkin and Mike Hamilton are pleased to support Joe Trammell and Maureen Parrott for the two 3-year Council terms in the Democratic Primary on June 6. Joe and Maureen have been endorsed by the Monmouth County Democrats and will be running under this column.
Joe Trammell was elected in November to serve the last year of an unexpired term on the Council. Joe is chair of the Environmental Health and Public Safety Committee and met with fire officials from surrounding communities to learn more about our duties, responsibilities and liabilities in regard to providing fire suppression services for Roosevelt citizens, and explored shared services possibilities with neighboring towns. Joe was a respected member of the Planning Board and Environmental Commission. Joe put his talents as an AV man to good use since moving here, recording the Roosevelt String Band and other RAP events. He has served the town well as a Councilman over the last year and he will continue to work well as your representative on the Council.
During the often-heated debate about how to provide emergency services for our community, Joe exhibited a great deal of respect for all of our volunteers and our citizens regardless of their viewpoints.
We have also had the pleasure of working closely with Maureen Parrott on a citizen’s committee over the last 2-years. Maureen is a very principled person and passionately believes in the rule of law because it has a purpose, to protect and serve the public good. Maureen believes in openness and transparency and having a full public process.
In addition, Maureen is astute, financially conservative, and thorough with regard to municipal bills and budgets. She’s offered advice on how to manage professional contracts more efficiently. She will honor her fiduciary duty to manage your tax dollars effectively and save us money. As a retired attorney, her legal research is impeccable and has been helpful as we explored issues regarding our town.
Joe and Maureen believe in a government in which the power is vested in the people and exercised by them directly. They’ve supported providing our taxpayers with the opportunity to vote on how their money is spent. They believe in outreach and asking our citizens for their opinions on matters that are important to them before decisions are made.
We wholeheartedly support Joe and Maureen in the June 6 primary.
Sincerely,
Peggy Malkin
