Work Advances on Forest Management Plan
The Environmental Commission is moving ahead on developing a five-year Community Forest Management Plan. Once the plan is approved by the NJ Forestry Service, Roosevelt will become eligible for grants to fund implementation.
At this stage the Mission of forest management on municipal property has been defined as follows:
To improve the health and safety of municipal trees and woodlands in Roosevelt, for the benefit of our residents, resilience of our community, and protection of our environment.
The following Goals have been identified:
The next stage will be developing detailed Objectives to achieve the Goals. We are aiming to have a first draft of the plan completed this spring, at which time it will be presented at a public meeting.
Anyone interested in learning more and becoming involved in this, or any other Environmental Commission activity, is welcome to attend a meeting (every third Wednesday of the month) or contact Eitan Grunwald, EC Chair, at 609-426-4636 or environmental@rooseveltnj.org.

- Reduce the risk of wildfire.
- Control the spread of invasive plant species.
- Reduce the risk of damage and injury from trees on streets and Borough property.
- Improve the sustainability of our forest natural resources.
- Develop community awareness and involvement to understand the plan and participate in its implementation.
