The band’s third release as Rick & the All-Stars, “A Moment of Perfect Balance,” hit the virtual record store shelves in October and has been selling briskly at All-Star gigs throughout eastern Maryland. The Stone Hill All-Stars--sans Pressler—first formed in the late 1980s. The current lineup includes songwriter/guitarist/bassist Paul Margolis, keyboard/accordionist John Shock, master guitar player Tim Pruitt, saxophonist Professor Dan Naiman, and legendary Baltimore drummer Hoppy Hopkins. The prolific group has been a Charm City mainstay for decades, performing prominently in local venues and festivals and releasing both studio and live recordings with regularity. Their latest album, “Wilson Comes Home” was released earlier in the year and features Margolis’s highly evocative and narrative lyrics alongside the band’s effortlessly virtuosic arrangements. Their recordings as Rick & the All-Stars-- largely improvisational meditations on grooves, riffs, and noise--have been an ongoing side project of the band for the past four years. Critical acclaim has been relentless with one prominent reviewer describing their latest effort as “surprisingly listenable.” CDs and downloads are available online at CDBaby.com and through Amazon. Free Rabies Clinic, 11/27/18, 6-7 pm, Roosevelt Borough Hall, 33 N. Rochdale Avenue.
